A.J. Fletcher will face Ange Loosa on Saturday night's UFC 278 preliminary card, valid for the welterweight division. The athlete “The Ghost” was coming from a sequence of 9 consecutive victories, until in his debut for Ultimate he suffered his first defeat. On the other hand, “The Last Ninja” goes through an unstable phase, where after a victory he always loses the next fight.

The recent performance of A.J. Fletcher

The American A.J. Fletcher is still a rookie in the UFC, where he is 25 years old and started his career as a professional MMA fighter just 3 years ago. Since then, he has entered the Octagon in 10 fights, winning 9 and losing only 1.

Among his victories, Fletcher won four opponents by knockout, four others via submission and only one via judges' decision. AJ has experience in several disciplines, so much so that he is great at striking and grappling. Even so, the fighter prefers the fight on his feet, with heavy hands he has great potential for knockouts, as he is also very agile in dodging.

To enter the biggest mixed martial arts league in the world, AJ made it through the sieve of Dana White's Contender Series 2021: Week 1, defeating Leonardo Damiani with a flying knee in the first round. In his grand opening, “The Ghost” faced Matthew Semelsberger at UFC Fight Night 203 – Santos vs. Ankalaev, losing by unanimous decision for the first time in his career.

Ange Loosa's current form

Mixed martial artist Ange Loosa is from Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is 28 years old and turned professional in the sport in 2013. So far, he has participated in 11 fights, where he has won eight times and lost only three.

Unlike the American, the fighting style of “The Last Ninja” is geared towards standing combat, where in grappling he only knows the basics to exactly avoid the sector. Thus, as a striker he has powerful punches, fast movement and a lot of resistance. In fact, Ange has already defeated five opponents by knockout.

In the first attempt to enter the Ultimate, Loosa participated in Dana White’s – Contender Series 2021: Week 3, but lost to Jack Della Maddalena via unanimous vote of the judges. The big debut took place at UFC on ESPN 34 – Luque vs. Muhammad 2, where he fought Mounir Lazzez and lost via unanimous decision.

How does UFC 2022 work?
