Game info Fnatic x 9z Team

Fnatic and 9z Team compete this Thursday, November 3, in Swiss round 5 of the IEM Rio Major 2022 Challengers Stage. After wasting two ranking opportunities, Fnatic will have the last chance to advance to the Legends Stage. On the other side, 9z Team also missed the chance to go into the previous round and will have the last opportunity to do so. As a round that will classify the winner for the next phase and eliminate the tournament's loser, Swiss Round 5 2-2 (2 wins and 2 losses) will be played in MD3 format (best of three maps). The match is scheduled to take place at 21:00 UTC.

How the IEM Rio Major 2022 works

In principle, the IEM Rio Major 2022 is a competition that will bring together all the best teams in the world in search of the most coveted title in CS:GO (Counter Strike Global Offensive), the Major. The tournament will start at the Challengers Stage. In this stage, the games take place in the Swiss format. That is, the winners face each other, and the losers also face each other. In the next stage, called Legends Stage, the Challengers Stage qualifiers join the 8 Legends teams of the competition, which were the teams that passed with the best placement in the RMR.

Finally, the last phase is called the Champions Stage, which works like a knockout. The eight best teams face each other until the tournament's grand champion is defined. All games in this phase will be in MD3 (best of three maps). The prize pool for the IEM Rio Major 2022 is US$1.250.000, which will be distributed to the best place: first place will receive US$500.000, second place will take home US$170.000, third and fourth will with a prize pool of $80.000 each.

Fnatic

First, the Fnatic team appears in this match after losing the Swiss round 4 of the IEM Rio Major 2022 Challengers Stage against Outsiders. Before analyzing the last round of the Swedish organization, it is worth remembering how they played in Swiss round 3. Facing MOUZ in the MD3 series, they started losing their pick by 8×16 in vertigo. In the sequence, they tied the series after beating hell by 16×9. In the third and decisive map, they were again tactically outmatched by the ancient and lost by 9×16.

In the last match, they faced the Outsiders Russians in a best-of-three qualifying series, where they ended up losing the second in a row. In the first map, they were utterly annihilated, managing to score only once in the overpass and losing on aggregate by 1×16. On the following map, they managed to raise their level of play in the mirage, where despite the defeat, they were, after 30 rounds disputed, taking the worst by 14×16.

9z Team

On the other hand, the 9z Team appears in this clash after losing the Swiss round 4 of the IEM Rio Major 2022 Challengers Stage against BIG. Before analyzing the last round of the South Americans, it is worth remembering how they acted in Swiss round 3. Facing Evil Geniuses, they started losing the first half in nuke by 5×10 being on the terrorist side. In the second half, they continued to be inferior to their opponents, having three match points against them (12×15); however, once again showing great resilience, they turned the fight around and ended their second consecutive victory by 19×17 on aggregate.

In the last match, they faced the Germans of BIG in a best-of-three qualifying series, where they ended up defeated without winning maps. In the first, they were utterly run over in the nuke by 3×16 on aggregate. After that, they were again in a situation of three match points against (12×15) and again took it to overtime, where this time their opponents got the better and finished by 19×15 in dust2.
