Online Casino Industry vs COVID-19

COVID-19 has certainly taken a heavy toll on industries all across the world. The widespread pandemic, now on the upturn for many locations, resulted in unemployment rates skyrocketing and economic challenges that brought adverse distress. But one thing that is quite incredible to see is that though as awful as this entire situation is, it actually gave cryptocurrency a leg up.

Staying Home Orders

With social distancing in full effect the first half of 2020, it gave people the ability to stay home and be with their families. But as any human knows, one can only take so much of those four walls. With that, more and more people began leveraging online cryptocurrency entertainment as a way to spend their time. In fact, Bling’s crypto gaming stats exploded during COVID-19. Though it did not generate more revenue per se, active users rose. They were people who were home, bored, and turned to online fun to pass the time - and the same goes for online crypto gambling!

Crypto Gambling in 2020

Though people may be forced to stay home to stop the spread of the virus, they have all the freedom in the world to roam the internet. With crypto gambling, online casinos, and games, this is a way for people to still feel connected and stimulated during isolation. So it only stands to reason why this pandemic made those markets more favorable during this time. According to Bitcon.com, Bitcoin adoption rates increased over three times since 2017, which equates to 29% over those last three years. They also conducted a survey that shows in 2020, 44% of millennials stated that they would likely be investing in BTC within the next five years as well. Also, according to Bitcoin, this was already likely to happen in the future, but COVID-19 put it in that direction much quicker, building faster trust in bitcoin in the uncertain economy.

Final Thoughts

COVID-19 was something that will inevitably change the future of society and culture. Post-pandemic, people will be facing irreversible changes and have to remediate the losses due to economic challenges. As for online platforms, such as education, insurance, and the gambling industry, they were able to get more attention. Cryptocurrency exchanges and the interest in associated trading platforms has grown, and this is a catalyst for the increase in traffic of online entertainment, especially online casinos and crypto gambling. People needed a distraction, and this allowed them to do just that.

Now, as for what will happen down the line once the dust settles with the pandemic, that is yet to be known. But it is predicted that such online resources will continue increasing their audiences because of the popularity growth. Other experts predict that this event will eventually enable more places to legalize online crypto casinos across the board, especially for places like the United States. Though these are all up in the air, it will be exciting to see where the future lies because, as of right now, it seems quite promising for a bright outcome.

The gambling industry has actually been pretty immune to the covid-19 outbreak at least in terms of revenue. Actually, many online casinos have seen an increase in revenue due to many staying at home a lot more since this became a requirement in many places around the world. Crazy world we live in.
